Job Description:
General Description Counter people need to be professional in appearance and attitude while being courteous to customers at all times. Counter personnel should be knowledgeable about our customers, our products, and our processes and procedures. They should have a strong desire to sell, make the customer happy, participate in and drive the company objectives forward, as well as create margin and profit for the company. Counter personnel should know how to make money for the company and themselves through selling more and more at higher and higher margins. Counter personnel provide leadership and energy to the rest of the company functions through a high level of energy and upbeat communications, increasing product and customer knowledge and expertise, and by becoming champion of the company operational programs and initiatives. Should be willing to attend weekly meetings and other duties and projects as assigned. Skill Sets - Counter personnel should have significant experience in plumbing, HVAC, and/or refrigeration applications, products and services. - Counter people should have “customer first” mentality and show a friendly, professional, and eager to serve demeanor at all times. - Counter personnel should be able to locate and pull inventory appropriately, support stocking and stock rotation programs, participate in inventory cycle counting and management programs, and ticket/bar code inventory programs. - Operate warehouse equipment with out damaging equipment or inventory. - Ability to receive inventory, place inventory in appropriate disposition location when necessary. - Stock warehouse when necessary, and support warehouse team on warehouse programs. Specific Duties - The first and primary duty of counter personnel is to grow and expand the company’s business levels with all customers possible. - Support outside sales personnel accounts by supporting their customers who buy at the counter. - Support counter customers who have no assigned outside account managers through telemarketing calls and direct service activity at the counter. - Counter personnel know how to listen to a problem, size up the situation and make a recommendation on the right products and how to apply them to solve the application. This requires encyclopedia-like knowledge. Problem solving and specific knowledge of the technical capabilities of the company products is mandatory. - Counter workers should know manufacturer products and how they work in an application or can be substituted (cross referenced) to another manufacturer product, which new products might fit the bill, and they know application-specific information regarding the company stocked product lines. Counter personnel are required to attend weekly product training sessions when offered at no additional cost to the company to ensure they stay current and grow their knowledge of products and applications. - Counter people are also required to restock, clean, create and build POS displays, and maintain the counter area and all POS areas in the counter showroom. - Counter personnel are required to actively support the company systems, processes, procedures and practices such as will call, customer credit, return program, warehouse hygiene, and other initiatives based on company’s need. - Counter personnel are required to pull inventory, help the inside sales team and warehouse personnel whenever possible, and work at all times to support the company projects and initiatives. - Counter personnel is responsible for not letting any merchandise leave the store without an invoice.
